The Gifted Program
Giftedness is defined as “Students, children or youth who give evidence of high achievement capability in areas such as intellectual, creative, artistic or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services and activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities."
According to regulatory statues of Kentucky, gifted and talented students include those who are identified as possessing demonstrated or potential ability to perform at an exceptionally high level in one or more of the following areas:
General Intellectual Ability
Specific Academic Aptitude
Visual or Performing Arts
Students deserve educational opportunities adequate with their individual needs and abilities. Union Pointe Academy is committed to providing a qualitatively differentiated instructional program for our students while also focusing on the social and emotional needs of gifted students and their families.
The Gifted and Talented teacher will work directly with classroom teachers to develop a variety of educational models, teaching methods, and strategies for selecting materials and resources that ensure academic rigor through the development of high-level proficiency in all core academic areas and demonstrate creative and critical thinking that can be applied to learning both in and out of the classroom.
